The Young Man and the Death was presented by the Paris Opera Ballet together with Carmen and L’Arlésienne, three legendary works by Roland Petit shining out like three black suns in the history of dance. The Young Woman who abandons the Young Man in his studios turns out to be none other than Death reaping yet another victim. Roland Petit, a past master when it comes to narrative art - and a skilled inventor of pictorial and literary atmosphere - offers us here the best of post-war artistic Paris. This resolutely modern works continues to offer the performer’s talents every opportunity to blossom.
