Opera in two acts by Vincenzo Bellini Libretto Felice Romani
The characters are split into two. Each of them is carried simultaneously by its soloist and by its double, dancer, or acrobat. This mirrored staging and choreography explore sensations rather than narrative: weightlessness, the absence of verticality, floating. The cameras in the catwalks turn gravity on its head, transforming the dancers lying on the floor into floating silhouettes, multiplying the choreographic phrases in a world in constant transformation. La Sonnambula takes us into this floating world, this dreamy world of somnambulism... and no one speaks more to the younger generation, whether of the 19th or 21st century, than Vincenzo Bellini. A composer who died aged 34 and whose entire career was the work of a young man with a passion for the supernatural and romanticism.
