Concert
Nereydas is an instrumental and vocal group led by Javier Ulises Illán, whose aim is to research, recover, interpret and disseminate the musical heritage of different stylistic periods. It specialises in early music, with a particular focus on baroque, opera and sacred music. Nereydas is renowned for its extensive repertoire, its historicist interpretation and its closeness to the public, with a desire to share the pleasure and emotion of music. This new collaboration between Nereydas, Javier Ulises Illán's ensemble, which is bursting with creativity, and Extremadura soprano María Espada, one of Spain's great Baroque artists, delves once again into an almost unknown indigenous repertoire. With a Salve Regina by Pergolesi as a magnificent contextualised overture, religious pages by Father Soler, Francisco Corselli, Antonio Ugena - who was surely his disciple - and Jaime Ferrer, chapel master at El Escorial, are included here. Baldassare Galuppi provides the instrumental counterpoint to this outpouring of sacred vocality.
