The young cantaora Rocío Márquez (Huelva, 1985) never tires of coming back to the more traditional flamenco while clearly positioning herself in the family of flamenco renewers. She affirmed a noble and popular vision of this art, which she also knew how to overcome, as demonstrated by her collaborations with Fahmi Alqhai, Jorge Drexler, Rosa Torres Pardo, José Manuel Zapata and Christina Rosenvinge. In this flamenco recital of esencias jondas in the sublime Patio de la Acequia, Rocío Márquez is accompanied by the Granada-based guitarist Miguel Ángel Cortés. The intensity of the interpretation, the subtle melismas, the exceptional clarity of the voice, the sobriety and precision of the singing: far from the seductive effects that are so easy to abuse, Rocío Márquez has chosen the path of a pure, unadorned and sincere art. The evening at the Patio de la Acequia (Canal Patio) takes us to the most important part of the Generalife. A canal cuts the length of the patio and irrigates the myrtle hedges, orange trees, cypresses, rose bushes and numerous small jets of water.
