Created in 1974 by Prince Rainier III of Monaco with the aim of saving an endangered art form, the International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo has become, throughout the years, the biggest circus festival in the world. In 2016 the event will be celebrating its 40th anniversary! To mark this anniversary, the Organising Committee, presided over by H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie, wanted to bring back to the Fontvieille big top all the greatest acts that have received awards in the last few years.
For this authentic "best of" the audience will meet again, amongst others,: - The Voljanski, with a breathtaking fun ambulist act at a great height ascending a rope at a 45 degree angle; - The two greatest horse trainers, Flavio Togni, the artiste who has received the most awards at the Festival, and Alexis Gruss; - The renowned Rastelli musical clowns that will bring the Rastelli troupe back to life, an act which has enjoyed success in the world’s greatest circuses; This big circus party will not only take place in the big top but also in town with a grand parade starting in Fontvieille which will take the artistes to the Place du Palais for a special show from 2.30 pm on Saturday 16th January. Finally, the Gala evening will take place on Tuesday 19th January at 8pm with an unforgettable "Golden Gala" show. The 40th edition of the International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo will feature 15 incredible shows with the best artistes to have received awards at the Festival and who are internationally recognised. It promises to be a very grandiose anniversary with some thrilling displays!
